Who We Are

Welcome to the Art Cult.

We are an evolving, horizontal collective of artists, makers, writers and creative instigators based in Cardiff (and radiating across Wales and the rest of the UK). Born out of a desire for a space that is equal parts functional project engine and social sanctuary, we operate somewhere between a community, an experimental studio, and a support network.

We don’t tie ourselves to a single medium. We are not part of an academic institution. We could say we are a collective of multidisciplinary practitioners, but that would go too far. We are just the people.

What We Believe In

• Radical Collaboration: We believe art is best made when we build together. Whether we are splitting up map districts of Cardiff or linking individual pieces into a giant collective lovespoon, we favour the power of the group over the isolated artist.

• Breaking the Gallery Wall: We like our exhibitions to have a bit of dirt on their boots. You’re just as likely to find our work scattered across a sunny skatepark garden or a historic castle as you are in a traditional gallery space.

• Creative Fluidity: Life happens, energy levels shift and mediums change. We champion an adaptive creative process. If a performance idea shifts into an audio recording, a piece of text or a zine page, it's all good.

We are artists, amateurs and everything in between. We experiment, we make messes and we go with the flow
